“Sabah” player Joy-Lance Mickels has scored his 40th goal in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
The 32-year-old German forward reached this milestone in the second round of the Misli Premier League, Idman.biz reports.
Mickels scored a brace in the away match against “Shamakhi,” with his second goal bringing him to 40. He achieved this feat in his 86th match in the country, playing for only one club.
Mickels is the 68th player in the tournament’s history to score 40 or more goals and the 9th foreign player to do so.
He also became the 27th player in the Premier League to score 40 or more goals for the same club. Among foreign players, he is the 4th to reach at least this many goals for a single club, after Abdellah Zoubir, Reynaldo Silva (both “Qarabag”), and Fernando Peres (“Baku”).
“Sabah” won the away match 2-1.
