The Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) has announced its opposition to the La Liga match set to take place in Miami.
AFE has filed a protest with the Royal Spanish Football Federation regarding the matter, Idman.biz reports.
It was stated that the federation never consulted the players and provided no information to the association: “This is a clear disrespect. We are united and demand respect and transparency.”
The captains of the La Liga clubs, Ter Stegen and Gerard Moreno, also signed a statement from the Footballers’ Association condemning the lack of prior consultation regarding moving the “Villarreal” – “Barcelona” match to Miami.
The association even described the very idea of the match as degrading.
