This season’s I League debutant, “Shimal,” is facing a difficult situation.
Idman.biz, citing Sportinfo.az, reports that the Khachmaz-based club, which secured direct promotion to the higher league last season by finishing third in the II League, has lost all its sponsors.
Over the past two years, the sponsors who had been financially supporting the team have gradually withdrawn. As a result, “Shimal” is now entirely reliant on the funding allocated by AFFA.
Local executive authorities, businessmen, and various companies operating in the region were approached for support, but they all refused, each offering a different excuse to distance themselves.
Just 7–8 months ago, the situation was different: “Shimal” even traveled to Egypt during the winter break for a training camp in the historic city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
