Former “Turan Tovuz” head coach Naci Sensoy shared his thoughts on the current state of his former team.
The Turkish specialist told Komanda.az that he has been following Turan Tovuz, Idman.biz reports.
Congratulating the club management, Naci Sensoy said that they have enabled “Turan Tovuz” to become a key player in Azerbaijani football again: “The management’s grand vision is clearly evident in bringing a coach like Kurban Berdyev to the team.
Yes, last year they barely missed qualifying for European competitions, but that doesn’t mean they won’t succeed this year. It’s clear that the ‘Turan Tovuz’ management intends to work with this coach for the long term, which is a very correct approach.
However, another reality is the fans of ‘Turan Tovuz.’ They may react more emotionally and impatiently to events! If the team fails to meet their expectations again this season, both the management and the head coach could face difficulties.
Personally, I don’t have high hopes that ‘Turan Tovuz’ will surpass ‘Qarabag’ and become champions. But at the very least, if they secure a spot in European competitions this year, I would consider it a success. After achieving that, it would make sense to gradually raise their goals and aim for the championship,” he said.
Sensoy served as the head coach of the Tovuz club in 2002-2003 and 2004-2005.
