In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) play-off, Qarabag faced Ferencvaros away and returned home with a 3-1 victory.
Idman.biz reports that Azar Bagirov, former head coach of Araz-Nakhchivan and Kapaz, shared his thoughts on the match in Hungary with Fanat.Az.
The expert noted that Qarabag was very well prepared for the game: “At the same time, the Agdam club was aware of the opponent’s strong points. That’s why our team played very cautiously in the first, second, and third zones during the first half. A technical error led to the home team’s goal. In the second half, Qarabag tried to apply pressing in the second and third zones. Since Ferencvaros played mostly with long passes, our plan to regain possession in the third zone didn’t work very well, but our team managed to win second balls and build confident counterattacks. Not all goals were scored on counterattacks, but after halftime, the visitors scored three goals and returned home with a confident victory. I think our team should play the same way at home. If Qarabag scores in the first half, Ferencvaros will “break.”
