Ayaz Abdullayev: “No work has been done”

“No renovation work has been done at the Guba Olympic Complex. It is exactly in the same condition as when we handed it over. In short, no work has started.”

Idman.biz reports that this statement was made by Ayaz Abdullayev, president of the Second League club “Hypers Guba,” in an interview with Futbolinfo.az.

The club official noted that “Imishli,” which was assigned by the Professional Football League to play two home games in Shamakhi, has not undertaken any measures to address the deficiencies at the stadium. He added that the stadium was last renovated last year: “The regulations for the Second League and the Premier League are different. What counts as 19 seats for us is 23 in the elite league. Therefore, changes need to be made. There are no media rooms either, they need to be prepared. I personally set up the sound system in the stadium. The technical zone, locker rooms, goals, I provided everything. They should come and talk to us first, then a decision should be made. Of course, they have permission to hold matches, and we have no objections. But all requirements must be met according to the PFL regulations.”

Abdullayev also added that the “guests” have still not come to the table with them: “We also rented the stadium. Payment matters were agreed directly with the management. Since we are the local team, we will always play here. No one needs to get permission from us. Nobody has discussed this with us. We are fine with it, and we also want Imishli to play here. The Premier League coming to the northern zone is a big achievement for us. But Imishli needs to take certain steps to ensure these processes are completed.”

Interestingly, two days ago, Leyla Behbudlu, head of Imishli’s press service, told our site that renovation work had started. Now it turns out that the newly appointed spokesperson was misleading the media.
