Ferencvaros striker Barnabas Varga, who scored his team’s only goal, shared his thoughts on their 1:3 loss to Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League playoff round and the upcoming return match.
The 30-year-old Hungarian player admitted they were disappointed but stressed they are not thinking about giving up, Idman.biz reports.
In an interview with RTL, Varga said: “Right now, I don’t even know what to say. Losing by two goals disappointed us, but we will not give up. We must play better in the second match. I don’t think we were superior to the opponent even in the first half; we need to make changes and show in the return leg that we deserve to play in the main stage of the Champions League. I don’t think they surprised us, they were just very confident in midfield, but we need to analyze what happened. There’s still another game ahead, and we will try to put everything right. A two-goal deficit is not the end of the world.”
