"I watched the match against Sumgayit. Kapaz will once again be fighting to stay in the Premier League. I can’t say whether this will satisfy the fans or not."
According to Idman.biz, veteran footballer Vidadi Rzayev said this in a statement to Sport24.az.
The former player expressed dissatisfaction with Kapaz’s performance in the opening round and, in general, with the situation at the club:
"The team played very ‘toothless’ yesterday. Sumgayit was much stronger. Over 90 minutes, they had 2-3 scoring chances but couldn’t take them. I think Kapaz will remain in the Premier League, but I can’t say in which position. They say a new sponsor has come to the club. What kind of sponsor says, ‘We won’t allocate money to youth football, we’ll only focus on the first team’? What about youth football then? The arrival of this new sponsor doesn’t seem convincing to me."
Rzayev also stated that it is unclear who is running the team: "There is no transparency in Azerbaijani football anyway. Everything is kept behind closed doors. Yesterday’s game showed that the team is still not fully prepared. In recent years, simply staying in the Premier League has been considered a success for Kapaz. From the matches I’ve watched, I saw that our club is stronger than some of the teams that won promotion. I think the fight for survival in the top league will be between three clubs – Imishli, Karvan-Yevlakh, and Kapaz. But this doesn’t satisfy me at all. This club has history; it played in the USSR championship. A traditional club shouldn’t be brought to this state. Who controls it? I don’t know – it’s kept secret. Every week someone comes, someone leaves. Who is this ‘dark force’? Everyone says it’s Adil Valiyev, but where is Mr. Adil? Nobody knows. Even though he is the chairman of the Board of Directors, he doesn’t allocate proper funds to the team. Namig Gadirov came, met with us. A week later, it was announced that he left his post. What kind of sponsors are these? I don’t understand. It seems like people just appoint themselves. There is a lot of confusion in the club."
Kapaz lost 0–3 to Sumgayit in the first round of the Misli Premier League.
