You defeated “Kapaz” 3-0. How do you assess the first match of the season?
We had a good start to the season. As a team, we fought well and were superior to our opponent. We scored an early goal and then found the net again shortly after. With the third goal, the outcome of the game was already decided.
The goals didn’t continue in the second half…
Yes, we didn’t play as brilliantly in the second half. Perhaps we were conserving some energy. But the main thing is that we maintained the lead and started the season with 3 points.
Considering you scored in your first official match, can we say your debut at “Sumgayit” was successful?
The debut wasn’t bad. I will do my best in the coming games. I didn’t face any problems during the adaptation period. The atmosphere in the team is great, and the coaching staff has built good relationships among the players. We will improve from game to game.
Next round you face “Qarabag.” Can you continue the successful start?
Of course, “Qarabag” is a very strong team. Still, we can beat them. We will give our maximum effort. If we win, it will be an excellent continuation of our start.
You are back in the Azerbaijan Premier League. What are your impressions?
Everything is great. I’m very happy. I love Azerbaijan and am glad to be back.
Last summer, some Azerbaijani clubs were reportedly interested in you when you left “Sabail.” How did it happen that it was “Sumgayit” that convinced you to return after a year?
Honestly, I wanted to stay here at that time. I didn’t want to leave Azerbaijan, but it didn’t work out. When “Sumgayit” made an offer, we talked. I liked the project and decided to be part of this club.
At “Sabail,” you were the league’s second top scorer. What is your goal this time?
I will try to do even better. I will do my best to score as many goals as possible.
