The first round of the Misli Premier League was marked by the debuts of two foreign head coaches.
Portuguese coach Jorge Casquilha took charge of Imishli, while Serbian coach Sasa Ilic led Sumgayit in their first league matches, Idman.biz reports.
Casquilha’s team lost 0-1 at home to Turan Tovuz, whereas Ilic celebrated a 3-0 victory over Kapaz with his side. With this, the number of foreign coaches or their assistants leading teams in Premier League history (formerly the Top Division) has reached 67. Casquilha is the first Portuguese coach, while Ilic is the fifth Serbian. He also became the third foreign coach in Sumgayit’s history.
