Simeone dismisses concerns over potential LaLiga US match

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone downplayed worries about a proposed LaLiga match in the United States involving Barcelona, saying it is too early to stress over its impact.

Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the December clash between Villarreal and Barcelona, approved by the Spanish federation, still requires UEFA, US Soccer, CONCACAF, and FIFA approval.

Real Madrid have opposed the move. Simeone emphasized focusing on Atletico’s own growth after finishing third last season and spending over €150 million on new signings. “The team must continue to grow at the same pace as the club,” he said, adding that players must prove themselves on the pitch.

Simeone welcomed new additions Alex Baena, David Hancko, Johnny Cardozo, and Thiago Almada, describing the changes as improvements rather than mere adjustments. He noted versatile attacker Baena could be used as a second striker, highlighting his adaptability. The Argentine stressed evolving and improving remains key to competing for the league title.
