"Qarabag will not allow any surprises today."
According to Idman.biz, this was stated by Vagif Sadygov, chairman of the AFFA Coaches Committee, in an interview with Report news agency.
The experienced expert shared his thoughts on the Azerbaijani champion’s UEFA Champions League third qualifying round second-leg match against North Macedonia’s Shkendija, which will take place in Baku today: “Expectations are high for Qarabag in European competitions. I believe the team will deliver a meaningful performance in the return match and achieve a positive result. In the playoffs, we may face one of the familiar teams we have defeated before. We must prepare seriously for these opponents as well and advance to the league stage of Europe’s number one tournament. The team’s play, the players’ potential, and the club’s experience make this possible.”
Sadygov noted that the North Macedonian team is not weak: “Let’s not even think about a surprise. Every opponent deserves respect and must be taken seriously. Everyone in Europe knows how to play football. We should not assume that Qarabag won easily in the first match. Our champion put in a lot of effort for that. I believe the team will not allow any surprises today either. The club’s goals are high. A new squad is being formed for this. I think the team will continue its journey in the Champions League.”
The Qarabag vs. Shkendija match will kick off today at 20:00 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium. In the first away leg, the “Qarabag” secured a 1-0 victory.
