Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill is set to miss a significant portion of the 2025/26 season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in training, the club confirmed on Thursday.
Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the 22-year-old England international sustained the injury shortly after returning to Cobham for pre-season and has since undergone successful surgery.
Recovery from an ACL injury typically takes between six to nine months, meaning Colwill will likely be sidelined for much of the campaign.
“Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the club’s medical department at Cobham during his rehabilitation phase,” Chelsea said in a statement.
Colwill made 43 appearances across all competitions last season, playing a key role in helping Chelsea secure a fourth-place finish and win the Club World Cup in July.
The Blues will kick off their new Premier League season at Stamford Bridge against Crystal Palace on August 17.
