Otar Aptsiauri: "It wasn’t difficult for me to adapt to Kapaz"

Interview with Kapaz’s Georgian midfielder Otar Aptsiauri, given to Futbolinfo.az.

– You are one of Kapaz’s new signings. How is the adaptation process going? Have you fully adjusted to the team?

– First of all, I want to thank the club management and coaching staff for the trust they’ve shown me. People here approach football with great passion. I encountered a very positive environment, which made me happy. There is a family-like atmosphere here, so adapting wasn’t difficult for me.

– Before coming to our country, what did you know about “Kapaz” and Azerbaijani football?

– Some of my friends played for this club. That’s why I already knew “Kapaz” had great fans and was a very good club. But what I saw here exceeded my expectations, which puts a great responsibility on me. As for Azerbaijani football, I know you have a very good league that improves every year. That’s an important factor for me.

– Who are your friends who previously played for “Kapaz”?

– I mean Mate Kvirkvia and Rati Ardazishvili. I’ve known both for a long time. Before coming to “Kapaz”, I spoke and consulted with both of them.

Last season, “Kapaz” was fighting to avoid relegation, but expectations are higher this season. Can the team meet those expectations?

Time will tell everything. The only thing I can say is that the atmosphere in the team is excellent, our unity is strong, and no player holds back. Everyone is ready to give their all for the team’s success.

– Do you plan to stay in Azerbaijan for a long time? Do you think you can make your mark here?

– Yes, this is a new chapter in my life. I’m sure I’ll make my mark and bring joy to “Kapaz” fans. I feel a great sense of responsibility. The fans should know that I’ll do everything I can to help the team succeed.

– Although the Georgian national team is currently stronger than the Azerbaijani national team, Georgian clubs lag behind Azerbaijani clubs. What do you think is the reason for this?

– I think many factors play a role in this. Unfortunately, many clubs in Georgia currently face stability issues. That’s one of the main reasons our clubs fall behind those in Azerbaijan.
