The most suitable option for Azerbaijan national team player Namig Alasgarov was “Zira”.
This was stated to Report news agency by the midfielder’s agent Vagif Heydarli, who signed a contract with the Baku club yesterday, Idman.biz reports.
He mentioned that there were offers from Turkish clubs as well: “In addition to local clubs, Namig Alasgarov also received an offer from a lower division team in Turkiye. We talked and discussed. Since 'Zira' was the most suitable and optimal option, we chose this team. Of course, financial matters always play a role during the decision-making process. But this time, finances were not the main factor. Other nuances were more decisive.”
Heydarli also addressed why the footballer did not consider the offers from Turkish clubs: “As you know, most lower league clubs in Turkiye lack stability. It’s uncertain what will happen in a month or two. That’s why Namig wanted to choose a professional team with stability and serious goals. Because right now, his biggest shortcoming is a lack of consistency. True, injuries prevented him from fully showing his potential at 'Sabah'. 'Zira' signed him on a long-term contract to allow regular appearances. He has no injuries now and has already joined his new team’s training sessions since yesterday.”
Alasgarov signed a “2+1” year contract with “Zira”.
