Stanislav Cherchesov has been appointed head coach of Akhmat, a team competing in the Russian Premier League.

The Grozny-based club has signed a three-year contract with the 61-year-old Russian specialist, Idman.biz reports.

Previously, Akhmat had parted ways with Aleksandr Storozhuk after starting the season with four consecutive defeats.

According to media reports, Cherchesov's annual salary will be €1.3 million.

Cherchesov stepped down from his role with the Kazakhstan national team in January 2025. He has previously managed the Russian national team, Ferencvaros, Legia, Spartak, Dynamo Moscow, and Amkar. From 2011 to 2013, he also served as head coach of this same club when it was known as Terek.
