Qarabag are favourites in the tie against North Macedonia's Shkendija in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
Former Qarabag player Emin Imamaliyev told Report news agency that the Agdam club is expected to progress, though Shkendija shouldn't be underestimated, Idman.biz reports.
“First of all, I congratulate Qarabag for advancing from the second qualifying round. There are no easy opponents in these matches because each country’s champion is involved. Still, we have great confidence in Qarabag,” he said. “Teams from Albania are usually tougher, they tend to play defensively. But Qarabag have enough experience. They just need to stay focused and cautious. I believe they will pass this stage. I think they’ll win both matches and move on. The Azerbaijani champions are the favourites, but Shkendija are not just any team, they recently eliminated a Romanian club.”
The first leg will take place on August 5 at the Todor Proeski Stadium in North Macedonia at 22:00 Baku time. The return leg is scheduled for August 12 at 20:00 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku.
