The official shared his thoughts on “Araz-Nakhchivan” eliminating Greek side “Aris” in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League: “We thank the coaching staff, players, and the entire team. Like every Nakhchivani, I am very happy. Our team qualified for European competitions for the first time and won in their debut.”
Akhundov reminded that 60-70 percent of the squad had changed: “Very professional players were invited. Motivation is there. They know their jobs well. They’ve played in front of even larger crowds. They once again demonstrated their professionalism in Greece, playing in front of 25,000 spectators.”
“Araz-Nakhchivan” beat “Aris” 2–1 in Baku and drew 2–2 in the away match.
