Newcastle reject £110m Liverpool bid for Isak amid “far from ideal” transfer situation

Newcastle United have rejected a £110m bid from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak, amid what manager Eddie Howe describes as a “complex” and “far from ideal” situation.

Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the 25-year-old Swede was left out of the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia due to a “minor” thigh issue, but has since been seen training alone at his former club Real Sociedad, something Howe admitted learning through the media.

“I was made aware there was a bid yesterday. That bid was turned down before I heard about it,” Howe said at a press conference. “We still support Alex in every way, and my wish is to see him in a Newcastle shirt again.”

Isak joined Newcastle in 2022 for £60m and was their top scorer last season, helping the team win the Carabao Cup. Despite the uncertainty, Howe remains hopeful the striker will stay. Newcastle face Tottenham in Seoul on Sunday before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa on 16 August.
