The dispute between Vidadi Jafarov, last season’s top scorer of the Second League with 31 goals, and “Shamkir” does not seem to be close to resolution.
The player told Fanat.Az that the western club owes him 2,600 AZN, and since he hasn’t been paid, he is preparing to file a complaint with AFFA, Idman.biz reports.
He emphasized that he signed a one-year contract with the club: “I haven’t received my salary for the last month. Besides that, I had to pay for the apartment I stayed in while in Shamkir out of my own pocket. The pre-agreed bonuses were also not paid. According to the contract, if I scored 25 goals, I was supposed to receive an additional 800 AZN, and 100 AZN for every 5 goals after that. Also, if I appeared in 23 out of 26 matches, I was to receive an extra 500 AZN. I played in 24 matches. They say I signed the contract not with them, but with the previous management, and that I should go complain wherever I want… What does that even mean? I signed a contract with the club. If they don’t pay what they owe, I will file a complaint with AFFA.”
The club’s response to this claim was also obtained. Club president Vusal Mammadov disagreed with the player’s statements: “I don’t owe a single penny even to my own father, let alone any player. I paid every member of the team exactly what was agreed upon. Where Vidadi complains is his business. We are a semi-professional club, but everything we do is on a legal basis. It’s not the club that owes Vidadi, but Vidadi who owes me. I don’t want to air everything or talk about the favors I have done or what I gave him directly. But it seems he has forgotten his first day here, he didn’t even have a jersey. We offered to talk about a new contract. He said he had an offer from a Premier League club. Later, we heard he moved to “Guba.” Apparently, “Guba” is a Premier League club, and we didn’t know about it…”
The club official also spoke about their goals for the upcoming season: “We have assembled a strong squad. Vugar Nadirov is leading the team, we achieved good results with him last season. Our goal for the upcoming season is the championship. We will start the training camp on August 3.”
“Shamkir” finished fifth in the Second League last season.
