“There may be an adaptation issue at 'Fomget' (Turkiye), whom Neftchi’s women's team will face in the UEFA Women’s Champions League first qualifying round, due to changes in their squad.”
Idman.biz reports that Neftchi’s head coach Siyasat Asgarov stated this in an interview with Report news agency.
The coach emphasized the importance of the upcoming match: “Today we will play a very important game. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, the draw has placed tough opponents in front of us. In the first year, we played against the Austrian champions. This year, we’ll face the Turkish champions. Fomget has really made good investments in women’s football in recent years. Of course, there have been changes in their squad. They’ve brought in about 10 players in the last month, each individually high-quality and members of their national teams. Perhaps due to the many changes in their squad, they may face difficulties in terms of adaptation.”
The head coach stated that they have analyzed the opponent: “We have prepared to the maximum extent for the match. We will try to do well today. We have analyzed the opponent. Their coaching staff has changed. They haven’t played any matches during the preparation period. There are several players in the main squad whom I know from my time working at Fomget. We’ve also tried to gather information about the new players and prepared accordingly.”
Asgarov said that his team does not have any major absences: “Indeed, we have brought in some players. We’ve invited some from Turkiye to fill the gaps. There were also players who got injured during the training camp in Baku. Of course, our goal is to progress to the next stage. The winner of this match will play against an Israeli club. We will do our best. I believe that if we make fewer mistakes and force the opponent into making errors, we can achieve our goal.”
The “Fomget” vs “Neftchi” match will take place today at 20:00 Baku time at the “House of Football Natural Pitch” stadium in Tirana, Albania.
