Ivan Brkic: “Hajduk has the better chances”

"I think my compatriots have a better chance. But in football, nothing can ever be said for certain."

According to Idman.biz, Croatian goalkeeper Ivan Brkic, who played for Neftchi from 2022 to 2024, said this in an interview with Telegraf while speaking about the second-leg match between Hajduk and Zira in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round.

Currently playing for Polish club Motor, the 30-year-old goalkeeper stated that the Azerbaijani team's chances of advancing are lower: "I watched the first match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Zira performed well in that game. It was an interesting match played at Neftchi Arena, a place that once felt like home to me. But the match in Split will be completely different. Anything is possible in football. The result is still uncertain."

Brkic emphasized that head coach Rashad Sadygov's team faces a tough test in Croatia: "The return match will definitely be difficult. Zira will face 30,000 Hajduk fans in Split. That incredible atmosphere gives the home team a lot of strength. It will be an exciting game."

The Hajduk vs. Zira match will take place on July 31 at Poljud Stadium. The game will kick off at 23:00 Baku time.
