Ukrainian media has reported on the reason why Azerbaijani footballer Zamig Aliyev’s transfer to the “Veres” club did not go through.
Although both sides were actively negotiating and were close to reaching an agreement over the transfer of the defender, who currently plays for Albania’s “Egnatia” club, the Albanian side ultimately decided to withdraw from the deal, Idman.biz reports.
The reason was that “Egnatia” had been holding parallel talks with a potential replacement for Aliyev, but those talks with the Brazilian center-back did not result in an agreement. Therefore, the club decided to keep the Azerbaijani player in the squad to ensure they are not left without a central defender for the Conference League qualification matches.
