Interview with Orkhan Aliyev, striker of Kyrgyz club "Ozgon", for Futbolinfo.az
– You’re continuing your career in Kyrgyzstan. How did your transfer to "Ozgon" come about, and who did you consult before making the decision? Was staying in Azerbaijan not an option?
– I received such an offer. I spoke with my manager and friend Gvanzav Magomedov, consulted with him, and decided to accept the offer. There were offers from Azerbaijan as well, but I didn’t want to stay. After signing with "Ozgon", I even received new offers from my home country, but it was too late by then.
– Your contract with your new club is only for 6 months. What’s the reason behind that? Don’t you plan to stay long in Kyrgyzstan?
– The season in Kyrgyzstan ends in November. I personally requested a 6-month contract. I didn’t agree to a long-term deal.
– Your debut with your new club was successful, and you even scored in the league match against "Asiagoal" (2:0)...
– I’m happy to have scored in my debut match. I’ll try to keep performing and help the team in upcoming games as well.
– Last season, you transferred to "Turan Tovuz" at the request of Kurban Berdyev. Why was your stint at the club so short?
– These things happen in football. I didn’t play much at "Turan Tovuz", and that affected me negatively. When a player doesn’t play, he loses form. I met with Kurban Berdyev and had a discussion. He said he wanted me to stay, but I made a different decision. I thank Berdyev, he understood me.
– What are your personal goals for the rest of the year? What objectives have you set for yourself?
– I want to deliver better performances. I have a goal, and I’m gradually moving towards it.
– Lately, we’re seeing more Azerbaijani players heading to Kyrgyzstan. Before you, Mirabdulla Abbasov and Ilkin Muradov also moved there. Is choosing Kyrgyzstan a matter of getting better financial offers, or is it out of necessity?
– Yes, Mirabdulla and Ilkin are also playing here now. I wish them success. Speaking for myself, I received a good offer from Kyrgyzstan and accepted it.
– How does the Kyrgyz league differ from our Premier League?
– What I like here is that the number of teams is increasing every year. That’s a very positive development for Kyrgyz football. Last year, there were 10 teams in the league; this year, there are 14, and next year there will be 16. People love football here. They’re building training bases and stadiums for every team.
