"Petrocub was in good form last season."
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by former Moldova national team player Igor Bugaev in an exclusive interview with AZERTAC while discussing the upcoming UEFA Conference League second qualifying round matches between Moldovan club Petrocub and Azerbaijan’s Sabah.
The veteran forward considers Sabah lucky: "Petrocub performed well last season. There was a coaching change in the team. This year, however, I don't have a positive opinion about them because the team is not showing stable performance. Therefore, the Azerbaijani side is somewhat the favorite in the tie."
The 41-year-old Bugaev emphasized that Petrocub has dangerous players: "Generally, Petrocub has always been a team that tries to maintain balance. They have players who can instantly change the score. I have followed both the Azerbaijani and Moldovan championships. The leagues are roughly at the same level."
The Petrocub vs. Sabah match will take place today at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau, starting at 21:00 Baku time. The return leg will be held on July 31 at the Bank Respublika Arena.
