“Score is not that important in such games.”
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Neftchi’s head coach Samir Abasov in an interview with the club’s official TV channel.
The specialist shared his thoughts about their friendly match against Poland’s Termalica Nieciecza, which ended in a 2-2 draw: “We make a lot of changes in such matches. We play differently in each half. That’s the idea. In the first half, we faced the opponent on our home ground. After the break, we wanted to try something different. I think there was activity in both halves. Even though it was a friendly, the players didn’t want to lose. Maybe what I say will surprise some, but we got what we wanted from the players. We are progressing well according to the plan. We must continue like this.”
The head coach recalled that some players joined the camp late: “Players losing the ball in matches is a sign of their physical tiredness. These things are normal. It should happen more often. One of the main goals of the camp is to improve physical condition. When they go out to play, they must have the strength to do what the coach says and what they want. The main thing is that we played against a good team.”
