According to Idman.biz, former player of the Aghdam club, Rauf Aliyev, said this in an interview with AZERTAC while speaking about his former team's first-leg match in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round against Ireland’s Shelbourne FC, taking place today.
The veteran forward expressed his belief that Qarabag will return from Ireland with a favorable result: “Shelbourne is a beatable opponent. True, their wing deliveries can be dangerous. They also fight well in aerial duels. These could pose problems for our team. But I don’t think our side will make such mistakes.”
According to the former Azerbaijan national team player, the “Horsemen” have what it takes to reach the group stage of the Champions League: “Gurban Gurbanov’s squad has the potential. If they eliminate Shelbourne in the second qualifying round, they’ll face the winner of the Shkendija (North Macedonia) vs FCSB (Romania) tie in the next stage. These are not teams that should be overly hyped. Whoever Qarabag faces, they can get past them.”
For the record, the match between Shelbourne and Qarabag will be played at Tolka Park in Dublin and will kick off at 22:45 Baku time.
