Samir Aliyev: "I don’t believe the Irish team will cause serious difficulties for Qarabag"

"Considering that Qarabag has been competing in the group stages of European competitions for years, it is understandable that fans and experts consider the Agdam team the favorite in the tie."

Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Samir Aliyev, the former head coach of Azerbaijan's U-21 national team, in an interview with Sport24.az.

He shared his expectations for the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round match between Shelbourne (Ireland) and Qarabag: "Everyone believes Qarabag will overcome Shelbourne. The fact that Gurban Gurbanov watched the opponent’s recent European match live shows how seriously he is preparing for the game. I don’t think the Irish team will cause serious difficulties for Qarabag. Although they play a completely different style, mostly favoring athletic football, we have witnessed Qarabag gradually building form in European competitions over the years. Despite this season being Qarabag's first match in the Champions League and the opponent's second, we hope and believe that Qarabag will advance to the next round."

The Shelbourne vs. Qarabag match will kick off on July 23 at 22:45 Baku time. The return leg between the teams will take place on July 29 in Baku.
