Barcelona to sign sponsorship deal with Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is set to sign a four-year sponsorship deal with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), which will bring the Catalan club €11 million annually, totaling €44 million over the duration of the contract, Idman.biz reports.
DR Congo’s Minister of Sports and Entertainment, Didier Budimbu, has reportedly been in serious negotiations with Barcelona for several weeks. The aim is to display the logo “RDC, cœur de l’Afrique” (“Democratic Republic of the Congo – The Heart of Africa”) on the back of the club's jerseys.
In June, AS Monaco also announced a partnership with DR Congo, committing to support the development of football in the African nation.
The expected deal with DR Congo is likely to help Barcelona improve its standing with La Liga's financial fair play regulations and move closer to a 1:1 spending ratio.
