“Our meetings and discussions with AFFA General Secretary Jahangir Farajullayev were focused on establishing a scouting department. He offered me the role of head of the department. I’ve been involved in this field for many years and have worked with clubs as well, so it’s not unfamiliar territory for me. That’s why I welcomed the offer,” said former Azerbaijani national team midfielder Bakhtiyar Musayev in an interview with AZERTAC, commenting on his appointment as the head of AFFA’s Technical Department Scouting Unit, Idman.biz reports.
Musayev thanked the AFFA leadership for their trust and spoke about his work plans: “Our plan is to assist with player selection for all national teams. We will offer our input and suggestions. We don’t want talented players to be overlooked.”
He also noted that a scouting team will be formed: “We haven’t finalized who will be on the team yet. Of course, we will need a lot of support in this journey, as we’ve taken on a major responsibility. After proper evaluation, we will form the team and begin work.”
For the record, Bakhtiyar Musayev played 20 matches for the Azerbaijani national team between 1997 and 2006.
