Neftchi women's team targeting Turkish national players for Champions League campaign.
Idman.biz reports that Siyasat Asgarov, head coach of Azerbaijan’s Champions League representative Neftchi, stated in an interview with Report news agency that the club is aiming to sign players from the Turkish national team.
“We’ve already added a few players to the squad whose names I won’t reveal yet. We’re also in the final stages of negotiations with others. Official announcements on new signings will be made in the coming days. We’ve invited several players currently playing in Turkiye, including some members of the Turkish national team,” Asgarov said.
The UEFA Women’s Champions League first qualifying round will consist of semifinal and final matches. Neftchi will face Turkiye’s Fomget in the semifinal. If they win, they’ll take on Israel’s Kiryat in the final. The winner of that match will progress to the second qualifying round.
Both matches will take place in the Albanian capital, Tirana.
