Liverpool pays tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva ahead of Preston friendly

Liverpool will honor late forwards Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in their friendly match against Preston North End on Sunday. The brothers tragically died last week in a car crash in Spain.

Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that the game at Deepdale marks Liverpool’s first since Jota’s passing, which the club called an “unimaginable loss.”

Tributes include a rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” a wreath laid by Preston captain Ben Whiteman, a commemorative matchday program, and both teams wearing black armbands. A minute’s silence will precede the game, which kicks off at 15:00 BST and will be broadcast live on ITV and LFCTV.

Jota scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool, winning multiple trophies including the Premier League last season. He earned 49 caps for Portugal, scoring 14 goals. The brothers died when their Lamborghini suffered a tyre blowout. Their funeral was held recently in Gondomar, Portugal.
