“The offer came directly from Kanan Karimov. I played alongside him at Gabala and he was my head coach at Karvan in 2013. I know his character well and gladly accepted the offer,” newly appointed Karvan head coach Azar Hashimov told Sportal.az, Idman.biz reports.
Hashimov expressed confidence that his collaboration with the Yevlakh club will be successful: “I believe our partnership with Mr. Karimov will work out well. We’ll give our all for the Karvan name. Naturally, there will be foreign players on the team, but I’d prefer not to comment on that until the signings are official.”
The young coach also shared his expectations for the 2025/2026 Misli Premier League season: “The new season will be challenging and exciting. I believe the football fans in Yevlakh will strengthen us. We’ll come together like a family and strive to do our job honorably.”
Kanan Karimov, who led Karvan to promotion, will now serve as the club’s sporting director. However, he will act as the unofficial head coach, while Hashimov will officially support him due to Karimov lacking the required coaching license.
