Former Croatian national team player Stjepan Tomas has commented on the appointment of his former Galatasaray teammate Sasa Ilic as head coach of Sumgayit.
According to Idman.biz, the 49-year-old coach shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with AZERTAC, wishing the Serbian success in his new role: “I’ve always liked Sasa Ilic. His playing career speaks for itself. However, I don’t have much information about his coaching. I also haven’t been in contact with him for a long time. Still, I hope my former teammate achieves success in Azerbaijan.”
Sasa Ilic has signed a one-year contract with Sumgayit. He played alongside Stjepan Tomas at Turkish giants Galatasaray between 2005 and 2007. Tomas, who earned 49 caps for Croatia, also played for Fenerbahce.
