Stepan Tomas: "Zira vs Hajduk clash will be a balanced battle"

Former Croatian national team player Stepan Tomas, who played for prominent Turkish clubs such as Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray during his career, has shared his thoughts on the upcoming UEFA Conference League second qualifying round matches between Hajduk Split and Azerbaijan's Zira FC.

Idman.biz reports that the 49-year-old coach gave an exclusive statement to AZERTAC, noting that the Croatian side has undergone changes since last season:
"After the departure of legendary Italian footballer Gennaro Gattuso as head coach, Spaniard Gonzalo Garcia was appointed to the position. Hajduk has a strong squad with quality players. Naturally, there have been some changes in the team."

Speaking about Zira, Tomas admitted he had limited knowledge of the Azerbaijani side: "I don't know much about Zira, but I watched their match against Osijek in last year's UEFA Conference League. Zira advanced to the next round after winning in a penalty shootout. I believe the chances are equal in this upcoming tie."

Zira will host Hajduk on July 23 for the first leg, with the return match scheduled for July 31 in Croatia.
