Araz-Nakhchivan midfielder Gara Garayev has shared his thoughts on the team’s upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round clash against Greek side Aris.
Idman.biz reports that speaking to the club’s press service, Garayev admitted that Aris is a tough draw:
“All of our potential opponents were strong teams, Aris included. They’re definitely not an ideal opponent for us, but we don’t get to choose our rivals. The draw decides that. We know a little about Aris, but our coaching staff will provide us with full tactical and technical analysis. We have enough time to prepare.”
He stressed the importance of focusing on their own development during this crucial period:
“Our main priority now is our own preparation. We need to restore our technical and physical sharpness quickly and return to our playing system.”
Garayev also acknowledged the responsibility that comes with competing in Europe:
“We understand the expectations of our fans and the football community. We’ve kept the core of last season’s successful squad and made new signings as well. With discipline and determination, we’re ready to fight against any opponent. Again, our focus should remain on ourselves, the coaching staff will handle the opponent analysis in due time.”
Araz-Nakhchivan will host Aris on July 24 in Baku, with the return leg scheduled for July 31 in Greece.
