Turan Tovuz continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season with the addition of an international midfielder.
Idman.biz, citing Futbolxeber.az, reports that the Azerbaijani club is on the verge of signing David Tavares.
The 26-year-old midfielder, full name David José Gomes Oliveira Tavares, is a product of Portuguese giants Benfica. He made his debut with Benfica B in 2018 and was later promoted to the senior team, though he struggled to secure a permanent spot.
Tavares spent the 2020–2021 season on loan at Moreirense, followed by a stint at Famalicão. In the 2023–2024 season, he played for Torreense on loan before moving to Romania, where he featured in 27 matches and scored once for Gloria Buzău.
Born in Portugal, Tavares represented the country at U-17, U-18, and U-19 levels. Since 2023, he has been capped by the Cape Verde national team.
