Neftchi targets another Apollon player as summer reinforcements continue

Azerbaijan's Neftchi Baku is eyeing yet another signing from Cyprus’ Apollon FC as part of its summer transfer campaign.

Idman.biz, citing Futbolinfo.az, reports that the Baku-based club has initiated talks with Charles Boli, a French midfielder currently playing for Apollon. The two sides have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement, and the 26-year-old is expected to arrive in Baku soon to finalize the move.

Boli, originally from Ivory Coast, was born in Scotland but began his football career in France, coming through the youth ranks of RC Lens. He made just 14 senior appearances for the club before going on loan in 2021 to Paris FC in Ligue 2. He later joined Italian side Vicenza for the second half of the 2021/22 season, followed by a return to France with Pau FC, where he played 54 matches and scored 4 goals over two seasons. Boli signed with Apollon in 2024 and featured in 19 games, scoring once.

Notably, Neftchi has already secured Sessi D'Almeida from Apollon and is also in discussions with another player from the club, Giorgos Malekkidis. If completed, Charles Boli would become the third player to move from Apollon to Neftchi this transfer window.
