“The starting lineup must already be determined. The game principles and tactics need to be improved.”
Aghasalim Mirjavadov said this in an interview with Idman.biz while speaking about the Azerbaijani national football team.
The expert shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming international friendly match against Hungary. He emphasized that today's match is crucial for the national team from a psychological and motivational standpoint:
“We need a positive result against Hungary so that our players can perform with confidence and high morale in the World Cup qualifying matches. After the end of the season, most players are physically not at their best. Right now, what’s needed on the field is character.”
Mirjavadov also pointed out the lack of game practice among players in Azerbaijan’s U-21 team:
“Clubs that are fighting for the championship give little opportunity to young players. This negatively impacts their professional development. I always tell players to go abroad, to live the life of a legionnaire. That’s where development lies. There is a good atmosphere in the U-21 team, and the players are motivated. The coaching staff is in high spirits and believes in victory. However, since the players come from clubs, all of this isn’t enough. In any case, for football to progress at the national level, the coaching staff must maintain close contact with clubs. Players need to be kept in focus.”
The Azerbaijan vs. Hungary match will take place today at the “Liv Bona Dea Arena.” Kickoff is scheduled for 20:00 Baku time.
