Vadim Abdullayev, the former captain of Araz-Nakhchivan, has broken his silence after parting ways with the club.
Speaking to Idman.biz, the 31-year-old midfielder expressed disappointment at the club’s decision not to renew his contract:
“The club’s management decided not to continue with me,” he said. “It came as a surprise. I’ve played so many games, been a key part of this team’s journey. But that’s football, that’s life. They didn’t want me, so I had to leave. I only found out yesterday. There are no offers yet. Any player in my position would be upset.”
Abdullayev also pointed out his contributions over the years:
“No one has played more games for Araz-Nakhchivan than I have. I was the team captain. I represented the club in the national team. We made history by qualifying for the Conference League for the first time. To be there through it all, and then be told you’re no longer needed—it’s tough. For me, the Araz-Nakhchivan chapter is closed.”
Abdullayev had been with the club since 2022.
