Qarabag part ways with Yassine Benzia in first summer departure

The first departure of the summer transfer window has been confirmed for Qarabag FK.

Idman.biz, citing QOL.az, reports that Algerian international Yassine Benzia is leaving the club.

The 30-year-old midfielder has parted ways with the Aghdam-based side after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on financial terms. Benzia reportedly demanded a significant salary increase following his successful performances for the team, but the club was unwilling to meet his conditions. His previous contract, which expired this summer, earned him approximately 700,000 AZN per year.

Benzia is now expected to continue his career in Saudi Arabia, where at least one club is said to have agreed to his financial demands.

Since joining Qarabag in January 2023, Benzia made 104 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 25 assists. His form with the club earned him a recall to the Algerian national team.
