Sabah FC has made history by becoming the 10th club to win the Azerbaijan Cup.
The Baku-based team defeated Qarabağ 3-2 in a thrilling final, securing the prestigious title for the first time in the club’s history, Idman.biz reports.
Since the tournament's inception in 1992, nine other teams had previously lifted the trophy. Qarabag holds the record for the most cup wins with 8 titles. Other notable champions include:
Neftchi – 6 titles
Kapaz – 4 titles
Khazar Lankaran and Baki – 3 titles each
Keshla (now Shamakhi) and Gabala – 2 titles each
İnshaatchi (Baku) and Shafa – 1 title each
With this triumph, Sabah joins the elite group of cup winners and cements its name in Azerbaijani football history.
The Azerbaijan Cup was not completed in the 2001/02 and 2019/20 seasons.
