Mexican club Monterrey, set to compete in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, has appointed a new head coach.
The club’s press service confirmed the appointment of Catalan coach Domenec Torrent, Idman.biz reports.
Torrent, a long-time assistant to Pep Guardiola, will be responsible for preparing the team for the Club World Cup kicking off next month. His coaching career includes working alongside Guardiola at FC Barcelona — first with the B team in 2007 and later with the first team from 2008 to 2012. He also followed Guardiola to Bayern Munich (2013–2016) and Manchester City (2016–2018).
Torrent’s most recent role was as head coach of Atlético San Luis in 2024.
