Sabah FC’s Russian head coach, Vasili Berezutski, shared his thoughts on the match held in Moscow to mark the 20th anniversary of CSKA’s UEFA Cup victory.
The coach told Report that his impressions were overwhelmingly positive, Idman.biz reports.
He said the event was organized in a very professional and engaging way:
"These kinds of matches are really interesting. You get to meet the fans, reconnect with them, and remind them of the victory from 20 years ago. On top of that, you reunite with the coaches and players who took part in that match, and together you relive some of those memories. It’s both exciting and meaningful. Most of all, it feels like a reunion—you see how the players have changed over the years. Honestly, when I think back to that team, I can say they were not only great athletes but also great people. They were the first to win a European trophy in Russian football history. That’s why my impressions are very positive. The only downside is that I picked up an injury—but I’m fine now."
For the record, the CSKA legends faced a team of veteran players from European clubs in a special match held in Moscow. The Russian side won 5–1.
