WATCH: Afran Ismayilov: "I bought her a house, did everything she wanted so she wouldn't suffer"

"The most important person in my life is my mother."

Retired footballer Afran Ismayilov shared emotional insights into his personal and professional journey during an interview on journalist Azar Ismayil's YouTube show, reports Idman.biz.

Ismayilov revealed that his strong bond with his mother played a pivotal role in his decision to remain in Azerbaijan, despite receiving multiple offers from foreign clubs throughout his career.

“I have dedicated not only my goals but all the fruits of my lifelong efforts to my mother,” he said. “I always dreamed of building a bigger, more comfortable home for her. Thankfully, I became a footballer and was able to fulfill all her wishes. I bought her a spacious house and did everything I could to make her life easier. That’s one of the main reasons I never went abroad — I simply couldn’t leave her alone.”

Though he chose to stay close to family, Ismayilov encourages young footballers to pursue opportunities abroad, highlighting the importance of gaining international experience for professional growth.

Throughout his career, Afran Ismayilov played for clubs like Qarabag, Turan, Baki, Khazar Lankaran, and Keshla. He is currently working as an assistant coach at Araz-Nakhchivan.
