Rumors have been circulating for some time that Vincent Aboubakar, the striker of the Cameroon national team, is in talks with Qarabag. Today, Turkish outlets Fanatik and Fotomaç have reported new claims on this potential transfer.
Idman.biz reports via QOL.az, Aboubakar recently terminated his contract with Turkish side Hatayspor by mutual agreement.
It is believed that the 33-year-old forward is interested in joining Qarabag due to the club’s participation in the UEFA Champions League.
However, sources suggest that there have been no official club-level negotiations so far. At the same time, Qarabag’s scouting team has long been in search of a new striker and has already held talks with several foreign forwards. It is not ruled out that discussions with Aboubakar are ongoing at the agent level.
For context, Vincent Aboubakar has previously played for Porto, Besiktas, Lorient, and Al Nassr. This season, he made 25 appearances in the Turkish Super League, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists.
