Qarabag defender Kevin Medina gave an exclusive interview to Sport24.az, reflecting on the team’s performance, ongoing motivation, and upcoming challenges.
– Qarabag defeated Araz-Nakhchivan 2-0 in Matchday 34 of the Misli Premier League. How would you assess the game?
- We faced a team that never backs down easily. We've played against them multiple times this season, so we know them well. I think we performed solidly and earned a well-deserved victory.
– Even after securing the league title, Qarabag continues to win. What keeps the players motivated?
- Throughout the season, we’ve made some mistakes. These remaining matches give us a chance to work on those issues and minimize errors. We don’t want to repeat the same mistakes next season.
– Qarabag is likely to start from the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League next season. How do you view this?
- Starting from the second round means one less match to play, which can be an advantage. More importantly, it gives us additional time to address areas that need improvement.
– What is the goal in the Champions League? Do you believe reaching the group stage is realistic?
- Qarabag is a club with big ambitions. Our objectives stay the same each season. We aim to bring joy to the people of Azerbaijan and our fans. Our target is clear – to qualify for the Champions League group stage. We’ll give our all to achieve that.
– You’ll face Sabah in the final of the Azerbaijan Cup. What are your thoughts on the upcoming match?
- There’s still time before that game. For now, our focus is on the upcoming league fixtures. Once those are done, we can turn our attention to the Cup final. We aim to correct our flaws in the matches ahead.
– Your name has been linked with other clubs during past transfer windows. Will we see you in a Qarabag jersey next season?
- There are always rumors. But Qarabag is my club. I’ve always felt respected and valued here. My focus is on working hard and looking ahead.
