Arda Turan will coach Shakhtar.
According to the Marca publication, the former midfielder of Galatasaray, Atletico and Barcelona is close to being appointed as the head coach of the Ukrainian team, Idman.biz reports.
38-year-old specialist will finish the season at Eyupspor, after which he will move to his new club. Under the leadership of Arda Turan, who began coaching in 2023, the Turkish club qualified for the Super League and is currently ranked 6th in the tournament table.
However, Ukrainian press claims that he is not the only candidate for the position of head coach of Shakhtar.
According to the information, there are at least six names on the list of the "miners", and one of the potential candidates is the current coach of Oleksandria, Ruslan Rotan.
The fate of Shakhtar's current head coach Marino Pusic remains uncertain. The Bosnian could stay until the end of his contract, which runs until the summer of 2026. The final decision will be made after the end of the current season in the Ukrainian championship and the final of the country's cup.
