Yashar Vahabzade: “Does a sponsor always mean there must be a foreign coach?”

“Kapaz had no sponsor, no proper conditions, and local coaches were working there. Now they have a base, a training ground, and a foreign head coach has to come in?”

Former Kapaz head coach Yashar Vahabzade said this in a statement to Sport24.az, Idman.biz reports.

The experienced specialist shared his thoughts on the appointment of Mircea Rednic as the head coach of the Ganja club:

“What achievements are they bringing Mircea Rednic in for? What did he accomplish with a big budget at Khazar Lankaran, what successes did he have? I support keeping Azer Baghirov. He’s doing his best to keep the team in the Premier League. Does having a sponsor always mean you must hire a foreign coach? What’s wrong with our own coaches? They’ve worked hard to earn their PRO licenses. They’re proving with their work that they deserve to coach in the Premier League. I’m completely against Rednic’s appointment. Let the conditions improve, and if there are no results, then you can change the coach. We need to trust our local coaches.”

The media has reported that Kapaz has reached a preliminary agreement with the Romanian specialist and that the sides may sign a three-year contract. The 63-year-old Romanian previously coached Khazar Lankaran.
