Azerbaijan national team footballer Nigar Mirzaliyeva has described her selection to the symbolic team of Round VIII in the Russian Women’s League as a joyful moment.
The 23-year-old defender shared her thoughts in a statement to Report, Idman.biz reports.
She said she played well in the match where they defeated Rubin:
“That’s exactly why I was included in the symbolic ‘11.’”
The player also spoke about her main goals at the St. Petersburg club:
“The championship is still ongoing. We have tough matches every week. This season is completely different. It’s possible to compete with all the clubs. But I believe we’ll become champions again. We are preparing seriously for the upcoming matches.”
Mirzaliyeva also touched on Azerbaijan’s upcoming Nations League group stage match against Lithuania on May 30:
“We will try to win. To qualify for the next stage, we need to score as many goals as possible. I believe our team can achieve that.”
Zenit currently ranks third among 13 teams in the Russian Women’s League with 17 points after 8 rounds. Nigar Mirzaliyeva has won the Russian championship twice with this team.
